Question by Dan: How to get ocean smell out of swimming trunks?
After swimming in the ocean I always rinse my trunks in fresh water. But it still stinks. I don’t want to use bleach them because they are colored. Even if I put them in the washing machine they still smell like the ocean.

If washing them in the wash machine WITH detergent doesn’t work, it isn’t the ocean. Toss them and get some new ones. I live in Hawaii and swim in the ocean a lot. It should wash out. If they are a natural fiber like cotton, they can get some kinds of mold that only BOILING will kill. Boil at least 5 minutes.

Wash them with detergents.
Easy… having got out of the sea water, find yourself a sizable tree or bush and take a p*ss in them. ok, you’ll smell like an 80 yr old but yr trunks (are these speedos ??) will not smell of sea water anymore… hey presto !!
you have to wash them, what you’re saying is you just toss them in the water and that’s it, you have to wash with detergent, but soap often works just as well, just you have to use alot of soap. You need to wash them, if the detergent doesn’t even work then it means the trunks have the problem I mean it means your trunks are what stinks and not the ocean so you need to buy new trunks if it’s like that but first use soap, if it doesn’t work then use detergent but soap often works for me.
I also suggest putting them in boiling water. Just remembered, almost forgot to tell you.
